To the voters of Clinton County:
Governor DeWine recently appointed me Judge of Clinton County Municipal Court on March 20, 2023. I will begin my duties on April 10th. It was an honor to be selected and to know he has confidence in my abilities to serve our county.
Although I have been appointed, I will still be on the ballot May 2nd as a candidate for Clinton County Municipal Court Judge. I want to take a minute to introduce myself, give you some background information and share my vision for the court so that you may make an informed decision when you head to the polls.
I have been the Chief Prosecutor and Assistant Law Director for the City of Wilmington in Clinton County Municipal Court for the past three years. Additionally, I am the Prosecutor for the Villages of Blanchester and Sabina as well as Sabina’s Law Director. I am now running to be Judge of the Clinton County Municipal Court. Mike Daugherty was a great judge and friend; I hope to carry on the legacy he left behind upon his untimely passing.
I have dedicated much of my career representing the State of Ohio. For the past three years, I have been in Municipal Court’s courtroom nearly every day. Prior to this, I have prosecuted in every court in the State of Ohio from municipal courts all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court. I have also represented the State of Ohio in United States District Courts and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. The Court has modernized significantly in the past three years. The pandemic brought video trials, conferences, and pleas into frequent practice. I have been actively engaged in the “new” courtroom since the beginning of this modernization. Bell’s
Judges have a responsibility to apply and interpret the laws based on the Constitution and as written by the legislature. As inscribed on the Supreme Court of the United States Courthouse, “Equal justice under law” is what will be applied in the Clinton County Municipal Court. I have found that decisiveness, open-mindedness, compassion, courtesy, patience, freedom from bias, and commitment to equal justice, is what is required for a great judge. I believe that I have put each of these attributes into practice as a prosecutor. It is my promise that I will put each into practice as a judge.
I am the only candidate that has been actively and regularly engaged in the court system for the past 20 years. I know that my experience will benefit the people of this county should I be elected Judge of the Clinton County Municipal Court. I will protect the public from convicted offenders and others. I would appreciate your support at the polls.
Sincerely,
David M. Henry
